Week 10 TERM 3

Well the last week of school has been a busy one!
We have embraced our creativity immersion this term by looking at inspirational artists and using their concepts to inspire our own creativity. Please come into LC3 and check out all the wonderful art on the walls.
As part of Tuakana Teina (our older students working with us) we have created some wonderful book characters for our library corner.

Our last immersion has been a technology focus. We have created a puppet to use as part of our narrative and drama. The children used a design brief to plan their puppet and then a variety of materials to create their own puppet.

Next term we head into projects and everyone has decided on their passion, selecting from dance, drama and technology. We will be working towards an end of term showcase so watch this space!

WEEK 9, TERM 3

We had lots of fun this week going on our very first school trip for the year.  It was exciting going on the bus (the journey on the bus was a first for many children)!  The children experienced being on the stage, and what it looks behind the scenes using the curtains, smoke effects, music and lights.
A big part of the day involved being shown how sound effects are made - ask your children about the biscuit!  The children all showed their fantastic audience manners - we were all very proud.

Week 8

This week we have been continuing our immersion around creativity of dance and drama.  Next week we will be beginning our technology round of immersion.
We were very lucky to have some fabulous workshops running on Friday for PINs, from Yoga and gymnastics to paper plane making and spying interesting things.  The children reflect on their workshops after they have run them.  The big learning for us is that it is much easier to run a workshop when everyone listens to us!  As a common we discuss this regularly, to help us become better learners.

Week 7 Fun

Week 7 Expression!

Well our immersion topics have proved to be extremely popular with the students loving our dance unit 'Move it, move it' and our drama experience 'Express Yourself'.
We have looked at how these experiences can tell a story, demonstrate culture and express ourselves and our feelings. We have also worked on being a respectful and responsive audience and how we manage our strengths, emotions and feelings. The photos speak for themselves!

Narrative Writing

In align with retelling a story we have set up 'Imagination Island' in one of our breakout spaces. This is a cool space to write creative stories and really immerse themselves in the writing process.

Spring
Spring has sprung and we have published these beautiful sensory narratives!
